The City of David
After conquering Jerusalem, David made it his capital c 1,000 BC. The City of David comprised a small area with deep valleys on two sides and a convenient spring. David made his city home to the Ark of the Covenant. Jerusalem became the Holy City, “the place which Yahweh chose for his name there” 1K 11:13.2. Under David the Ark was kept in a tent. Solomon, his son, built the first Temple to house the Ark.
